Exam

  • Midterm review summary.

  • Review sheet for the midterm (with one change describe in this page).

  • Practice exams for the upcoming midterm, and my review sheets: part 1 (review 1) and part 2 (review 2). (Crossed out parts do not apply for the upcoming midterm.)

    • It is planned that my updated review sheet for the upcoming exam will be provided by me, by sometime early next week.
    • For the midterm, you can bring one letter size paper filled with potentially useful formulae and facts (like those contained my review sheet).
    • You should also bring a simple calculator for the midterm (not a graphing calculator; a smart phone is not allowed, and neither is any internet connected device).
    • Review: Tue, Feb 11, 6-8 PM, Thimann 3.

Homework

  • Homework 4, due Feb 11: Waves, Sound (solutions, by TA K. Matsuyama

  • Homework 3, due Jan 30: Waves (solutions)

    • Score Statistics: 69 ± 44 (out of 120).

    • Addition: Hooke’s law part for 1(a). Note that Hooke’s law is applicable to any spring as a whole, if the spring is uniformly deformed (as in a static sitatuaion or in a SHM). It is just that when a wave is going through the spring, Hooke’s is applicable only at the nano-scale level.—12:39PM, Jan 27, 2014
