Final exam
- What to bring to the exam:
- two US-letter sized crib sheets
- a simple calculator
- a very well-rested brain of yours
Practice exam (as a pdf file). Practice exam (in the forum).
Homework
Homework 7, due Mar 6: Lens, Interference (solutions)
Homework 6, due Feb 27: Snell’s law, Lens+ (solutions, by TA D. Thorngren)
Correction: The solution for prob. 6 (33-10) is now corrected. The grading was done correctly.—7:22PM, Mar 06, 2014
Homework 5, due Feb 20: Mirror and Snell’s law (solutions, by TA E. Miller)
Homework 4, due Feb 11: Waves, Sound (solutions, by TA K. Matsuyama)
Homework 3, due Jan 30: Waves (solutions)
Score Statistics: 69 ± 44 (out of 120).
Addition: Hooke’s law part for 1(a). Note that Hooke’s law is applicable to any spring as a whole, if the spring is uniformly deformed (as in a static sitatuaion or in a SHM). It is just that when a wave is going through the spring, Hooke’s is applicable only at the nano-scale level.—12:39PM, Jan 27, 2014
Homework 2, due Jan 24: SHM and Waves (solutions, by TA D. Jenkins)
Score Statistics: 73 ± 25 (out of 80).
Change: due date is this Friday (24th).—2:38PM, Jan 21, 2014
Correction: Problem 2 is an extra credit problem.—7:33PM, Jan 17, 2014
Homework 1, due Jan 16: Simple harmonic oscillation (solutions, by TA M. Baugh)
Score Statistics: 73 ± 22 (out of 90).
Midterm exam
Review sheet for the midterm (with one change describe in this page)
Practice exams for the upcoming midterm, and my review sheets: part 1 (review 1) and part 2 (review 2). (Crossed out parts do not apply for the upcoming midterm.)
- It is planned that my updated review sheet for the upcoming exam will be provided by me, by sometime early next week.
- For the midterm, you can bring one letter size paper filled with potentially useful formulae and facts (like those contained my review sheet).
You should also bring a simple calculator for the midterm (not a graphing calculator; a smart phone is not allowed, and neither is any internet connected device).
- Review: Tue, Feb 11, 6-8 PM, Thimann 3.
