  • Homework 6, due June 15: Landau theory, Monte Carlo, renormalization group

    • Code: python program for Monte Carlo

    • Changes: MC.py: docstring for the "measure" method is improved, and tabs are replaced by four spaces. – 8:19PM, Jun 05, 2012

  • Homework 5, due May 31: Fermions and bosons (with solutions)

    • Corrections: solutions, problem 2(a): unit of $k_D$ had a typo! corrected (red). – 1:05PM, Jun 08, 2012

    • Corrections: solutions, page 3: $T_Q$ values (red); pages 7,8: $m$ (red). – 3:24AM, Jun 08, 2012

  • Homework 4, due May 18: Interactions, quantum statistical mechanics (with solutions)

    • Change: 2f: two small but important changes in the text. – 11:49AM, May 18, 2012

    • Change: one ε removed from 1b. (Thanks, AC and AB!) – 6:01PM, May 16, 2012

    • Change: minor wording changes in page 1 (red). – 3:12PM, May 09, 2012

  • Homework 3, due May 9: Kinetic theory, semi-classical statistical mechanics (with solutions)

    • Addition: solutions, page 9, "the direction of" (red). – 4:58PM, May 12, 2012

    • Change: due date++. – 10:06AM, May 07, 2012

    • Addition: page 2 (red), 1(f), clarification of the Debye frequency. – 3:30PM, May 06, 2012

  • Homework 2, due Apr 24: Probability (with solutions)

    • Score stats: 94 ± 12 out of 120.

    • Addition: Some comments added to the solution for 3(a) (page 6). – 10:05AM, May 09, 2012

    • I recommend your reading my solutions, even if you did very well. In particular, solutions to problems 7 and 3 are physics-rich. Solution to problem 2 is worth reading, too, I think. I am happy to see that everybody is very good with the evaporative deposition (problem 6) and the cumulant expansion (problem 4)!
  • Homework 1, due Apr 12: Thermodynamics (with solutions)
