Google problem fixed
It sounds as though at least two people experienced an "internal server error," when creating an account using Google. I diagnosed and fixed the problem. With a newly created Google account, I just tested it and it seems to work. So, I think it should work for you!

Linking an existing local account to your Google account
If you had to create a local account, due to this problem, please note that you can still add your Google credential.
To link your Google account to your existing local account, simply logout from this site, and click "Login" without entering any user name and password information. When you are prompted for the user name, type in the existing user name, and then you will be prompted for a password.
Once you link Google to your local account, then you can login either way -- the two methods of login should work fine. If you use the Google credential, then your local password just won't be used, just safely stored (I can also delete the password for you, if you request -- Do not worry, I see only an encrypted version of it, and so I cannot read your password. But I can delete it).
